Andre Shaw is entering his third season as the assistant coach of the Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball program. Shaw has taken charge in directing the Hounds’ recruiting, scouting, and player development while coaching the ENMU guards and wings.

In his first season, the Hounds saw significant improvement under Shaw’s tutelage as Eastern went 13-14 and finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference with a 10-8 record.  The Greyhounds had their best finish in conference play since the 2013-14 season and the first winning record in league play since the 2010-11 campaign.

Shaw mentored a pair of All-Lone Star Conference performers during the 2018-19 campaign in sophomore Devin Pullum and senior Zach Parker. A Second Team selection, Pullum led the Greyhounds’ offense after averaging 12.7 points per game and 14.3 ppg in LSC play. Pullum was the league’s best free throw shooter with an 84 percent conversion rate after making 84-of-100 attempts. Parker finished his ENMU career as the third-best scorer on the team, averaging 11.3 ppg while leading the squad with 58 made three-pointers.

Prior to his arrival in Portales, Shaw served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Midwestern State for five seasons. In his first season with the Mustangs, Shaw guided the team to a 24-8 record and a Lone Star Conference Championship with a 12-2 record in league play. The Mustangs were selected to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament and advanced all the way to the regional championship game.

The Mustangs competed in two more South Central Regional Tournaments during Shaw’s tenure, including the 2015-16 season when Midwestern State won the LSC Championship for the second time in three seasons after finishing with a 24-6 record and a 10-5 mark in LSC play.

Previously, Shaw served in his first coaching position as the assistant boys’ varsity basketball coach at The MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts for the 2012-13 season while attending Western New England University.

Shaw went into coaching after an illustrious four-year playing career for the Golden Bears, where he was an All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Second Team selection his senior year after averaging 17.3 points per game.

Shaw earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Midwestern State in 2016 after graduating from Western New England in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.

Shaw currently resides in Portales with his wife, Nicole and their son, Nixon.
