Alex Figueroa joined the men's soccer coaching staff in August 2024 ahead of the 2024 campaign.
Figueroa comes to the Land of Enchantment following a stint at Cal Poly as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program, helping the team reach the post season. He worked with goalkeepers to design training sessions that developed technical ability and enhance decision-making skills. Additionally, Figueroa helped the coaching staff analyze game footage, scout potential recruits, organize and execute alumni events, senior day, and team budget receipts.
Prior to joining the Mustangs, Figueroa spent over 10 years at Aliso Niguel High School, in Aliso Viejo, Calif., in multiple different positions. He started as the team's goalkeeper coach for a handful of seasons, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of goalkeepers and creating individual training programs for specific needs. During that same time, Figueroa served as the boys freshman/sophomore coach for two years, and the junior varsity coach for one season.
Figueroa then took over the head coaching role for the boys varsity program at Aliso Niguel HS, serving in the role for nine full seasons. As the head coach, the program experienced massive success making the postseason in all but one season (nine seasons), with six league titles, and two CIF Championships.
Figueroa earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Vanguard University of Southern California in 2014. While at Vanguard, Figueroa played four seasons with the men's soccer program as a goalkeeper. Additionally, he is working towards his U.S. Soccer National "C" license.
