Katrina Weir

After serving as a graduate assistant last season, Katrina Weir will enter the 2020-21 campaign as a full-time assistant coach for the Eastern New Mexico track & field program.

Weir will be responsible for planning, instructing and supervising daily practice sessions while also monitoring student athlete progress in the training facility and on the track.

Prior to her time at Eastern, Weir served as the assistant coach at the University of the Southwest from 2017-18 and gained valuable experience in recruiting potential student athletes and organizing athlete specific training sessions. Weir got her start in coaching as a residential assistant at New Mexico Junior College in 2012 where she spent two seasons. She earned her USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification in 2018.

Weir also proved to be an outstanding student athlete herself during her time at NMJC and USW, qualifying for the NJCAA National Championships in 2014 as a sophomore and was a three-time NAIA National Qualifier from 2015-17. Her best season came as a senior at the University of the Southwest in 2017 where she earned both Indoor Athlete of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year recognition while also being named to the NAIA Daktronics All Academic Team and garnered All-Conference honors in the 100m.

Weir graduated from the University of the Southwest with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science in 2017 and recently earned her master’s in communication from Eastern in 2020.
