Eric Benedick finished their first season with the ENMU Women’s basketball staff as an Assistant Coach during the 2024-25 season.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Benedick assisted the Greyhounds to a 21-10 record returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020 and winning the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament game, posting the 5th 20-win season in program history. Benedick helped the Hounds to a 15-7 conference record, finishing in 4th, improving on a 7-15 record from the season before. Benedick assisted the Greyhounds to their first ever NCAA Tournament win, beating (4) #22 Colorado Mesa 56-52 in Denton, Texas. Season highlights included sweeping West Texas A&M in the season series for the first time in school history, winning at home 74-57 (11/23/24) and on the road 56-43 (2/27/25), along with going 10-1 in the opening eleven games to record the best start in program history. ENMU finished with three all-conference honorees (Nataya Lockett, Ishuana Hunter, and Jayla Smith), while earning four LSC weekly honors. As a team, ENMU notably had the best scoring defense in program history (60.5 ppg), while being the best defensive rebounding team in ENMU history (32.8 opp rpg).
Benedick joined the Greyhounds after a short stint as an Assistant Coach with Jacksonville University (NCAA D1-ASUN), helping the program with recruiting, player development, and academic oversight. Before arriving at Jacksonville, Benedick served as the Assistant Coach at Eastern Wyoming College (NJCAA-Region 9) for the 2023/2024 season. He was instrumental in the programs rebuild, helping to triple EWC’s win total from the previous season. The Lancers would produce two All-Region 9 recipients. Academically, the team carried a 3.5 cumulative gpa, with the Lady Lancers being named the 2023/2024 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year!
Prior to joining EWC, Benedick spent three years as the Head Coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College (NJCAA-Region 18). Under Benedick’s leadership, CNCC would increase its win total every season, culminating in the 2022/2023 season with the programs highest win total in over a decade. In Benedick's tenure, four players would earn All-Region 18 accolades, five NJCAA Academic All-Americans, and twelve Region 18 All-Academic recipients. Benedick carried duel administrative roles, serving all 3 years in Residential Life, while also serving as CNCC's Athletic Director in 2022/2023.
Before arriving at CNCC, Benedick competed internationally as a professional player with experience in Iceland, Thailand, England, and Ireland. He also competed domestically for the New Mexico BlueTails (PBA). Benedick brings coaching experience from the club level for the New Mexico Clippers in various national tournament circuits. He constructed & coached the New Mexico Elite team to the 2019 Gold Championship at the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI), as well as winning the 2019 PBR Super 64 National. Benedick also served for two seasons as the Assistant Coach at Sandia Prepatory School in Albuquerque, N.M.
A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Benedick holds a Master of Science in Sports Administration & Physical Education (Eastern New Mexico University ‘22), a Master of Arts of Interdisciplinary Studies in Psychology & Business Administration (Western New Mexico University ‘23), and a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication (University of New Mexico ‘16). Benedick is also a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach.
