Mikaehla Connor begins her first season as a full-time assistant for the Hounds after two seasons as a graduate assistant with the program.
Connor has been instrumental in the rise of Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball as a premier team in the Lone Star Conference, leading the Greyhounds to a selection into the NCAA Division II National Tournament in each of her seasons as a graduate assistant coach and once during her standout three-year playing career for the Hounds.
A talented guard herself during her collegiate career, Connor is responsible for the development of ENMU’s guards and wing players as well as handling all in-game substitutions for the position group. She handles scouting reports and pregame preparation for the opposing teams. Connor assists with all academic appointments to ensure team progress in the classroom and also serves as the team’s travel and equipment manager. Aside from coaching responsibilities, Connor organizes community service activities and is responsible for running the ENMU women’s basketball camps.
Prior to her coaching career, Connor was a dominant wing along the perimeter for the Hounds and played three seasons under Head Coach Josh Prock from 2015-18. Connor was a pivotal piece of the 2016-17 LSC Championship team, which also made the first trip to the NCAA Tournament in school history. As a junior, Connor averaged career-highs in points (11.2) and assists (3.4) as she finished the season with First Team All-LSC, LSC All-Defensive Team and LSC All-Academic honors.
Connor finished her Greyhound career with 857 points, 393 rebounds, 191 assists, 69 steals, and 55 blocks in 84 games played. Her 83 starts are the sixth-most in Greyhound history and she ranks third in career minutes averaged, logging 31.5 per game. Connor sits at the No. four spot in the ENMU all-time record book with 158 offensive rebounds while her 201 made free throws ranks tenth.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree of Science from Eastern New Mexico and recently graduated this last spring with a master's degree in Sports Administration from Eastern New Mexico as well.Â
