Biography
Career
Breanna Atencio has appeared in 38 games over three seasons for ENMU. Her defensive performance in 2014 helped the team finish third in the Lone Star Conference, the best in team history.
As a Junior in the 2015 Season
Breanna Atencio's play during her junior year helped the Greyhounds post the seventh-best goals against average in team history (1.55). Her performance kept Eastern in every game, as the Hounds allowed more than two goals on just two occasions. For the season, Atencio played in 15 games with 13 starts.
As a Sophomore in the 2014 Season
Atencio played in 17 games as a sophomore and helped a resurgent ENMU team. After the team posted four wins the previous season, they came within one of the team record and won nine games. Atencio took the first shot on goal of her career in a 2-1 victory over Adams State in Eastern's home opener.
As a Freshman in the 2013 Season
Atencio made her ENMU debut on September 8, in a 2-0 win over Western State. She made four appearances during the season, which included a win and tie against West Texas A&M.
Before ENMU
Prior to enrollment at Eastern New Mexico University, Atencio played for head coach Natasha Lee at Albuquerque High School. In four seasons for the Bulldogs she garnered First Team All-District 5-AAAAA as a junior and senior. Atencio also earned the Academic Letter Award in 2009-10 and served as a student functions chair and member of the student senate. Atencio also served as team manager for the Bulldog basketball team.
Academic
Atencio is majoring in criminal justice and Spanish at ENMU, with a minor in psychology.
