Sav Roys

Sav Roys joined the Eastern New Mexico Volleyball program as a Graduate Assistant Coach, beginning their first year with the team in the fall of 2023.

For the 2023 season, Roys helped the program to an 11-20 finish with Mikaela Garvin earning their third career LSC postseason recognition (LSC Second Team). Getsemani Carrasco thrived during the 2023 season, leading the conference in digs per set (5.53 d/s) finishing 8th in the nation. During the season, Garvin tied the single-match record for most kills in a single-match (29 kills; Wayland Baptist, 10/31) and Carrasco set the all-time mark with 41 digs against Midwestern State (9/16). Additionally, Carrasco, Kayla Ison, and Gracelyn Stubbs all received CSC Academic All-District Team recognition.

The Georgia native brings several years of volleyball experience at the high school and collegiate level. Before coming to ENMU, Roys completing their academic and athletic career at University of Montevallo. While with the Eagles, Roys played for five seasons at Montevallo, being name captain of the team for three seasons. On the court, Roys compiled 3077 assists and just under 1000 digs in their career. Roys was also recognized to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in 2022, and a five-time Gulf South Conference (GSC) Academic Honor Roll honoree.

Off the court, Roys has gathered several different experiences in coaching. Roys helped run summer camps and training sessions at North Georgia VolleyPerformance, running sessions for elementary to high school ages, giving instruction, directing drills, and coaching technique. During that time, Roys assisted Gainesville City Schools, coaching summer programs for middle school and high school program, helping attendees learn new skills, working specifically with setters.

Roys graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Montevallo, finishing with Magna Cum Laude honors. Roys is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling while at ENMU.
