Ankerman graduated from Catholic Central High School in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, where he played for the Cougars under Coach Mitchell Ankerman.
He was named pitcher of the year, rookie of the year and most valuable player, as well as all-conference first team-shortstop during his time at Catholic Central.
Ankerman played for the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs in Lethbridge under Coach Todd Hubka.

Academics

Ankerman received an exercise science degree and achieved honor roll during his time at the academy,
He is majoring in health and physical education with a minor in athletic training.
