John Sharp comes to Eastern New Mexico in June 2025 after spending the previous season as an assistant coach for Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. He helped coach two student-athletes who finished in the top eight in the region as a team roping heeler. His primary responsibilities included recruiting student-athletes, caring for team livestock, and managing practice sessions.
He competed for the Red Raiders from 2019-24 after transferring from New Mexico Junior College.
Sharp holds a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Tech and completed his master’s in interdisciplinary studies also from TTU with honors. He is a 2018 graduate of Tatum High School in Tatum, N.M.
