Patrick Colbert II

Patrick Colbert II joined Eastern New Mexico in January 2026 as an assistant football coach working directly with the offensive line.

Colbert II brings a decade of coaching experience to the Greyhounds and will reunite with Art Briles who coached him at Baylor and was part of his coaching staff at two other stops.

He comes to Portales after several key coaching stints at high schools in the Lone Star state. Previously, he has been at Tyler, Big Sandy, Sabine, and Mount Vernon.

In 2021, he helped Sabine go 7-4 (5-1) to take second in district and advance to the 3A state playoffs.

When Art Briles got the head coaching job at Mount Vernon in 2019, Colbert joined his coaching staff. During the season, the program went 8-3 and advanced to the 3A state playoffs.

Colbert got into coaching in 2018 when Briles took the head coaching job at Firenze Guelfi in Florence. He was an assistant coach on the staff.

He played under Briles at Baylor from 2011-15 and made the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice. Colbert played in 50 career collegiate games in his time in Waco.

He is originally from Kilgore, Texas.
