PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team is back on the road against Lone Star Conference foes this weekend. Friday sees the Zias try for their first sweep of Midwestern State since 2001 at 6 p.m. MT in D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Eastern finishes their trip on Saturday at Cameron in Aggie Gym at 1 p.m. MT.

Scouting Eastern New MexicoPacing the Zias offensively is sophomore right side hitter
Lauren Frye (Amissville, Va./Highland School) with 176 kills and 2.93 k/s while adding an attack percentage of .235. Senior outside hitter
Lindsey Barron (Mandeville, La./Central Arkansas) is second with 125 kills and 2.36 k/s. Leading the team with the third highest attack percentage in the LSC at .307 is senior middle blocker

Courtney Lawson (Rio Rancho, N.M./V. Sue Cleveland HS) has added 20.
Bost's 4.25 d/s is the eighth highest in the conference while Lawson contributes 2.88 d/s as well. Gibbons enters the weekend with 64 blocks, 10 of them solo, for a 1.07 b/s mark. Senior middle blocker
Bree Anna Lucero (Fort Sumner, N.M./Fort Sumner HS) is closer behind her with 61 blocks and 1.02 b/s.
Eastern is hitting .174 as a team with 11.3 k/s and 10.5 a/s. From the service line, they have recorded 74 aces but given up 91. The Zias hold a 128-109.5 block advantage over their opponents.
Scouting Midwestern StateMidwestern State goes into the weekend having lost three straight including a conference match at home to Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Mustangs lone LSC victory this year was at home to Cameron on Sept. 26 in five sets. Their only other victories have been against CSU-Pueblo, Dallas Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State during the first week of the season.
Nicole Marzik leads the team with 170 kills and is second with 2.58 k/s. She is also hitting just .112. Hunter Porter is averaging a team-high 2.61 k/s while Sarah Garfield is the third player on the team with triple-digit kills (137). Setting up the attack is Sarah Rosinke with 8.24 a/s. She paces the team with 23 service as well.
Defensively, Casey Fletcher is averaging 5.57 d/s and Marzik is contributing 3.15 d/s. With 67 blocks, Garfield leads MSU. Her 26 solo rejections are the second most in the conference. Angel Summers has added 44 blocks while Kat Molloy and Addison Semer have 41 and 35 rejections, respectively.
The Mustangs are hitting .158 and putting up 11.8 k/s and 11.1 a/s. They have 81 aces from the service line while giving up 82. MSU is averaging 16.7 d/s and have 144 total blocks, the fifth most in the LSC. Opponents have an attack percentage of .204 while recording 13.1 k/s and 12.6 d/s.
Scouting CameronCameron has won four straight after defeating East Central on the road in three sets on Tuesday. Their other victories during their winning streak have been against Arkansas-Monticello, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Williams Baptist. Their only other conference victory was on the road against Texas A&M-Commerce on Sept. 19. Prior to playing the Zias, the Aggies will host West Texas A&M on Friday night.
Both Kat Evans and Rebecca Green are averaging over two kills a set at 2.85 and 2.65, respectively. Green is hitting a team-high .292 while Evans has a .232 attack percentage. Setting the attackers up has been Ingrid Boatman and Kayla Hebert. Boatman is averaging a team-best 6.57 a/s and Hebert contributes with 4.39 a/s.
At the net, Green has 37 blocks to pace CU. Paige Holt has added 33 blocks and a team-high four solo rejections. Boatman is third on the squad with 22 blocks while Jordan Escobar and Kat Evans have 19 blocks apiece. Leading the Aggies with 3.65 d/s and 17 service aces is Cristina Viera. Shannon DuLaney (3.04) is also producing over three digs a set.
CU is hitting .172 as a team and averaging 12.4 k/s and 11.7 a/s. At the service line, they have produced 73 aces and only 50 errors while opponents are 68 aces and 105 errors. They are getting 18.5 d/s but producing just 1.3 b/s with 80 total rejections on the season. Opposing teams have rejected the Aggies 132 times for a 2.13 b/s mark.
