OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. — The Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer team scored three goals Thursday for the fifth time this season, winning 3-1 against Oklahoma Christian University for their fifth victory on the year.
Roberto Zatarain pushed his season total to eight goals, scoring twice against the Eagles (8-8-1). His first goal came 31 minutes into the contest off a cross from the right side of the field by Ryan McManus.
The second came after OCU had tied the game 1-1, scoring in the 79th minute off a volley from 10 yards out by Ryan Sinclair. For good measure, Carlos Viveros knocked in his third goal of the season from 15 yards out, getting the unassisted goal and sealing the game at 3-1 in the 88th minute of play.
James Gutierrez had another stellar performance, recording seven saves. The Greyhound keeper was on his toes all match, especially in the first half when the Eagles recorded 11 shots and Gutierrez had five saves.
ENMU would end up doubling their opponent's number of shots, striking 32 times compared to OCU's 16. Viveros led the team with nine shots, five being on target.
ENMU will continue its road trip to take on Southern Nazarene University, Saturday, Oct. 31, at 12:00 p.m. (MDT). The Crimson Storm are 3-13 on the season.
