WICHITA, KAN. — The Eastern New Mexico men's soccer team had their chances Sunday, but couldn't manage to find the back of the net time after time in their 3-1 loss to Newman University.
Roberto Zatarain scored the lone goal for the Greyhounds (3-4-2) in the 39th minute of the second half. ENMU recorded a total of 14 shots, with seven shots on goal, compared to Newman's (5-4-1) 12 total shots.
James Gutierrez had five saves, allowing three goals in the match. The keeper now has 50 saves on the season and 22 goals allowed.
Zatarain's goal pushed his season total to five, leading the Greyhounds offensively. Ryan Sinclair continued to play at a high level, recording two shots on goal.
ENMU will return home to prepare for No. 2 Midwestern State University a week out. Kickoff will be at 11:00 a.m., Oct. 11.
