WICHITA, KAN. — For the sixth time this season, the Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team blanked their opponent, beating Oklahoma Panhandle State University in straight sets Friday, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-12.
Lauren Frye led the charge with 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Brooklyn Biel, The Greyhounds (13-16) "two" in their offenses one-two punch, followed Frye with 11 kills and a .333 hitting percentage as well.
Courtney Lawson was one kill and one dig away from her seventh double-double on the season, recording nine of each. Alexis Aguirre led the team with 40 assists in the match.
The first set against OPSU saw ENMU jump out to a quick 10-3 lead, which they would maintain throughout the entirety of the set, going on to win by seven. Frye recorded six of her 13 kills in the first set.
The second set saw the Aggies regain their confidence, keeping the match within several points until late, when ENMU took a 17-9 lead. Then OPSU came storming back to get with as much as three points until the Hounds closed it out by five.
The third and final set saw ENMU run away with the match, jumping out to a nine point lead that just grew, ending by 13 points.
The win against the Aggies (1-28) snapped a four game losing streak for the Hounds, who continue their nonconference stint with an afternoon matchup against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith today, followed by a matchup with Newman University Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (MT).
