PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team will travel to Laredo, Texas, this weekend to take part in the Texas A&M International University Fall Invitational. The Greyhounds will open on Friday evening against St. Mary's University, before they play Texas A&M-International on Sunday afternoon.
In the opening week of play, ENMU surrendered just one goal to both
Southern Nazarene and
Adams State in 1-0 setbacks. The team received goals from
Melissa Moxley and Danielle Caro in a 2-2 tie at Lubbock Christian. Goalkeeper
Cristina Escobedo has made 12 saves and boasts a .750 save percentage.

Rattlers since a 2-1 home victory on September 2, 2007. Marcela Garcia headed the game-winner goal into the net off a Kimberley Anaya corner kick. Stephanie Sanchez made nine saves to earn the win. St. Mary's won their
only home contest against ENMU by a 2-0 score on September 10, 2004.

Eastern struck early in the first half on a penalty kick from Caro, but goals from Kim Garcia and Sol Medina in the opening minutes of the second half staked the Dustdevils to a 2-1 advantage. Eastern scored three goals in about a 15 minute span, with two straight from Victoria Perez, to earn the win. This weekend marks ENMU's first road contest against Texas A&M-International.
