Frye's 26 Kills Sets New Career High in Loss to UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — Lauren Frye set a new career-high and is not tied for fifth all time with 26 kills in a single match in Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team's 3-2 loss to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Saturday.  Frye now has 132 kills on the season and is fourth in the Lone Star Conference in kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After falling in the opening set 25-21, the Greyhounds surged back taking the next two sets.
  • The fourth set turned out to be a back and forth affair, with the score changing hands several times before UCCS final squeaked by with a 25-22 win.
  • The fifth and final set was perhaps the closest of all the sets, with the two teams having to go past the 15 point mark to decide a winner.
  • The final set saw three lead changes and seven ties, including a 16-16 tie before the Greyhounds fell 18-16.
  • ENMU held a five point lead with the score at 9-4 in the Hounds favor before UCCS tied the game at 11 all.
 
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Frye had a career-high 26 kills on the night, setting a career high and placing her tied for fifth all-time for single game kills at ENMU.  More than that, she also did it at an incredibly efficient rate, hitting .321 on the night.
 
IN DEPTH LOOK AT THE BOXSCORE
  • Both teams were somewhat even on the night when it came to errors, with ENMU recorded 27 and UCCS 29.
  • Likewise, both teams hitting percentages were close, with ENMU posting a .214 percentage and UCCS at .178.
