Volleyball Drops Match to 11th-Ranked Angelo State

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-16), decision on Saturday afternoon in San Angelo to 11th-ranked Angelo State. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 10-10 on the year and 5-5 in Lone Star Conference action.

Eastern started quickly, battling ASU to a 28-26 first set. The Greyhounds battled back from a 19-15 deficit in the first set to eventually tie the match at 25, but were unable to complete the comeback bid in the opening frame. The opener featured 12 ties and six lead changes as the 'Belles gained a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Green and Silver were unable to regain the early momentum, however, as they would have the lead just once in the remainder of the match.

Senior Lauren Frye and junior Brooklyn Biel each had 12 kills to pace the offense while Andrea Aguilar led the defense with 16 digs. Setters Alexis Aguirre and Kaitlyn Kluna dished out 32 of the team's 36 assists in the setback.

The Greyhounds return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 18 when they host West Texas A&M. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. at Greyhound Arena. For the latest news, follow @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and visit goeasternathletics.com.
