Poyer Earns 50th-Win As ENMU Surges Past WNMU, 3-1

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University Women's Volleyball coach Sia Poyer earned his 50th-career victory with the Greyhounds in the team's 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 15-25, 26-24) win over Western New Mexico on Tuesday night in Silver City. With the win, Eastern improves to 17-11 on the year and 12-6 in Lone Star Conference action. ENMU moved into a three-way tie for third place in the conference with two matches to play in the regular season.

"I owe it all to the players and their hard work," Poyer said. My record as a coach is just an extension of their hard work and dedication. I love what I do."

Senior Lauren Frye posted 23 kills and hit .261 on the match. The Amissville, Va., native now needs 55 kills to match Christabell Mariner's all-time career kills record of 1,695. Junior Brooklyn Biel added 13 kills, three blocks and a .375 attack percentage to pace the Greyhounds' offense. Junior Alexis Aguirre dished out 35 assists to set the table for Eastern while Andrea Aguilar and Talaitupu Faumui picked up 17 and 12 digs, respectively.

The Greyhounds return to the court on Friday, Nov. 11, against Angelo State. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. at Greyhound Arena.  For the latest news on the Greyhounds, visit GoEasternAthletics.com.
