LUBBOCK, Texas — Mike McNicholl, Chris Padilla and Wesley Jordan all had standout performances in the Eastern New Mexico baseball team's 7-4 loss Tuesday against Lubbock Christian, the No. 3 team in the South Central Region.
McNicholl and Padilla both led the Greyhounds (10-31, 3-23 LSC) with two hits apiece, while Jordan once again had two RBIs for the fourth time this season. McNicholl extended his multi-hit game total to 10 contests.
The Hounds started off the matchup with two quick scores, which the Chaps (29-11) answered by scoring one run of their own in the opening inning, followed by three runs in the bottom of the second. While ENMU would score a single run in both the seventh and eighth innings, two runs by LCU in the fourth and a single in the fifth would push their lead out of reach.
ENMU saw Daniel Schiller, Kiegan Basso and Anthony Inge put in work from the mound, with Inge doing the lion's share of the throwing. Finishing with six and two-thirds innings from the rubber, he struck out one batter and only allowed three earned runs.
The Greyhounds will resume their Lone Star Conference campaign this weekend, taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. (MT), followed by a doubleheader Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. (MT).
