ATLANTA, Ga. – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team earned a split decision with Morehouse on Sunday afternoon, losing its first game of the season, 6-4, before bouncing back with a 17-run outburst in a 17-6 win over the Tigers. With today's results, Eastern improves to 7-1 on the young season.
 
In game one, the Greyhounds raced out to a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Eastern broke the scoring seal in the top of the third, in large part due to three errors committed by Morehouse. After extending the lead to 4-1, the Tigers gained the lead on a two-run triple to move the score to 5-4 before a wild pitch brought home the final run of the game. In the seventh inning, ENMU put the tying run on base with one out, but was unable to capitalize.
 
In game two, Eastern capitalized on a 17-hit performance to strike for 17 runs. The Greyhounds tallied 13 runs in the final three innings, including a seven-spot in the sixth after tying the game at five in the fifth. Malcom Smith, Alex DeLaCruz and Andrew Stubbs combined for eight runs on nine hits while DeLaCruz launched a grand slam in the sixth for four of his five RBI. Endy Villalona, Gabriel Vargas and Garlind Webster also tallied multi-RBI performances in the rout.
