PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team rode a huge second inning to a 15-1 rout of Wayland Baptist on Tuesday evening at Greyhound Field. With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 10-1 on the season, matching the best start by the program in the last 10 years.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, ENMU exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second to put the game out of reach early. Michael McNicholl roped a double into center and quickly advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Endy Villalona would go on to drive him home on an RBI groundout. The 'Hounds rattled off four-straight hits to push the lead to 3-1 before a fielder's choice and an error extended the lead even further.
Andrew Stubbs laced a single down the left field line to score a pair when McNicholl picked up his second hit of the inning on a single to center.

Stubbs finished the evening going 2-for-4 with a team-leading three RBI performance. McNicholl went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with two runs scored while Ankerman collected three hits and two RBI.
Scott Klein (3-0) earned his third win on the mound, tossing 2.0 innings of no-hit relief with four strikeouts.
Enrique Perez and
Nick DeArmond shut out the Pioneers over the final three innings with DeArmond fanning the side in the seventh to close out the victory.
