PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team racked up 15 strikeouts in a 3-2 series-opening win over Texas-Permian Basin on Friday night at Greyhound Field. Michael McNicholl drove home a pair to help the Greyhounds to their 18^th-win of the season, moving to 18-5.
 
Alex DeLaCruz went 3-for-4, scoring all three runs for the Green and Silver while Nick DeArmond tallied four three-hit, shutout frames in the win. After entering the game in the sixth, the right-hander picked up a season-high six strikeouts to improve to 3-1. Scott Klein hurled 5.0 frames, scattering two runs on four hits with a pair of walks and nine strikeouts.
 
Eastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With DeLaCruz on second, McNicholl rifled a two-out single into right to plate the second baseman. After surrendering a pair of runs in the fifth, ENMU notched the equalizer on an RBI groundout by Garlind Webster before taking the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh. McNicholl picked up his team-leading 39^th-RBI with a two-out base knock up the middle.
