ODESSA, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team saw its postseason hopes dashed on Saturday after a 6-3 loss in the first game of the doubleheader. The Greyhounds made four early runs stand up in game two, claiming a 14-4 win. After the split, ENMU moves to 31-18 overall and 9-12 in Lone Star Conference action.

In the top of the sixth in game two,
Alex DeLaCruz reached after wearing a pitch. Following a single and an error, the second baseman crossed home to break the all-time school record at 62

Mike McNicholl and
Jesus Villalobos all tallied a multi-hit performance in the opener with McNicholl and Villalobos picking up the RBI for the Hounds.

After striking for two in the first, the bats of the Greyhounds went cold. The Falcons struck for three in the third and two in the fourth to build a 6-2 lead.

In the top of the seventh,
Zach Shank worked a leadoff walk before a strikeout and a fielder's choice brought the Hounds to their final out. McNicholl belted a single through the left side and
Garlind Webster reached on an error to bring the tying run to the plate, but a groundout up the middle ended the threat and the game, 6-3.

In game two, ENMU hung a crooked number on the scoreboard in the second inning, scoring four runs. Webster got the party started with a rocket single through the left side of the infield, but was replaced by Villalobos on a failed sacrifice bunt attempt. Villalobos went first to third on a
Chris Padilla single to center and came home on a safety squeeze from
Gabriel Vargas.
Nicholas Ankerman, Shank, DeLaCruz and Villalona logged four-straight singles to claim a 4-0 lead.

Villalona finished the day with four hits, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and a triple to pace the offense.
Keenan Dodd turned in a strong performance on the mound to earn his seventh win of the season, improving to 7-3. The righty closed with eight strikeouts over 5.0 innings of work.

The Falcons threatened to push across the equalizer in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs, but a called third strike ended the threat with the tying run on second. In the next half inning, the Greyhounds pounded out six runs to take a 10-2 lead. In the seventh, ENMU tacked on another four runs in the top of the seventh to expand the lead to 14-2.
