Brandi Gomez scored nine of her 14 points in the fourth quarter of a thriller at Greyhound Arena as the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (7-6; LSC 3-3) picked up a crucial Lone Star Conference win. The Hounds built a nine-point lead in the final quarter and hung on for a 58-56 win over Texas Woman's University (5-6; LSC 2-3).
In the Series
- ENMU improved to 30-22 against TWU with a 17-8 mark at home
- The win was the Hounds' third straight in the series, the longest win streak since a six-game run from 2003-2005
The Key Run
- Late in the third quarter, TWU scored six straight points to seize a 35-32 lead with 3:22 left in the period
- Shelby Jones hit a short jumper to ignite a 12-0 run, which saw Eastern take the lead for good, 37-35 on a trey from Mikaehla Connor with 1:43 left in the third
- The Pioneers closed to within a single point twice in the final 1:30 of the game, but were unable to tie the game
