PORTALES, NM — In what turned out to be a special night for the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (13-8; LSC 9-5) and its alumni, ENMU Athletics honored its 1992-93 league championship team and earned a hard fought win over the top team in the conference. Senior forward
Daeshi McCants poured in a career-high 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots as the team's alumni watched the Hounds pick up a 64-60 win over Texas A&M-Commerce (15-7; LSC 11-3), Saturday at Greyhound Arena.
The contest was sponsored by Roosevelt General Hospital. The win was Eastern's fourth straight and eighth in the last ten.
ENMU's all-time winningest women's basketball coach Wayne Moore was present with much of the 1992-93 roster, which posted a 23-5 record and earned Moore's 300
th career win. That team featured six Hall of Honors Inductees. The group held its 25-year reunion in Portales, this weekend.

- After an Alivia Lewis layup gave ENMU a 49-48 lead with 6:16 to play, the Lions scored five straight to seize a 53-49 advantage
- The Hounds answered with an 11-2 run over the ensuing 4:37 to take a 60-55 lead with 10 seconds left on a free throw from Amari Joseph
- The teams combined for eight points over the final 10 seconds, but the Hounds held on for the win

- Eastern blocked a season-high 10 shots in the game
- The Hounds finished with a rebounding deficit of eight in the game, the largest such deficit in a win this season

- The Hounds held a 15-6 lead in points scored off turnovers
- Sarina Johnson scored 17 points and had three steals
- Mikaehla Connor had nine points, six rebounds. Three assists, two blocks and two steals
- Lewis finished with five points, seven boards and four blocked shots
- Brianna Wise paced the Lions with 19 points
