PORTALES, NM — Leslie Reyes and Elena Garcia both homered as the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (18-29; LSC 9-18) concluded its home schedule for the 2018 season. Following Saturday's doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Greyhounds honored its six senior players. The Javelinas (24-21; LSC 11-13) won the opener 8-3 and claimed a 14-4 win in the nightcap.

Greyhound Seniors

• Following the series finale, the team honored its six seniors, who led the program to 38 wins over the last two seasons
• The 2018 senior class consisted of Erikka Burke, Samantha Glover, Ashley Lopez, Kamalani Peneku, Courtney Vigil and Kiana Zerr
• In 2018, the groups has paced the team to its second-most homeruns in a season
• During the year, the Hounds posted their most home wins (9) since the 2013 season
• The senior class accounted for 25 homers this season

 
The Long Ball

• Today's two homers brought the season total to 48, just nine away from the team record, set in 2006
• Garcia homered three times this weekend
• Reyes has homered twice in her last five games

 
Game 1

• Trailing 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Courtney Vigil and Elysa Rodriguez led off with infield singles
• After a pair of stolen bases, Jennifer McElroy delivered a two-run single to get ENMU on the board
• Garcia's one-out solo homer in the seventh provided the final score
• Parker Smith and Rodriguez each had a stolen base
• Sarah Gilbert scattered five hits to earn the win for the Javelinas
• Roxy Chapa had a two-run homer for Texas A&M-Kingsvillle

 
Game 2

• In the nightcap, Texas A&M-Kingsville scored six runs over the first two innings
• Lopez led off the Greyhound second with a double and scored on a two-out hit from Peneku
• The Javelinas continued to pull away, scoring four runs over the third and fourth innings to seize a 10-1 lead
• After Vigil drew a fourth inning walk, Peneku grounded into a fielders' choice
• Reyes followed with a two-run blast for the Hounds
• Erikka Burke doubled in the  ENMU fifth and pinch-runner Parker Smith scored on a Garcia single
• Burke batted 2-for-4 in the game
• Garcia extended her consecutive-game hits streak to five
• Anastasia Leibas batted 4-for-5 and drove in four runs
