CANYON, TEXAS — Senior
Erikka Burke and freshman
Jennifer McElroy each registered a pair of hits for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (18-34; LSC 9-21) in Saturday's season-ending doubleheader. Both players hit 2-for-3 in the opening game, which saw 12
th-ranked West Texas A&M (38-10; LSC 21-6) pick up an 18-2 win at Schaeffer Park. The Lady Buffs also earned an 8-0 win in the nightcap.

The Long Ball
- McElroy's homer in the first game was her eighth of the year
- That total is the highest for a freshman since Kristen Cruickshank bashed 10 in 2007
- ENMU's 52 homers is second on the program's single-season list and marks the second time the team has reached 50
- The Hounds homered in 34 of 52 games this season with multiple homers in 11 games
Game 1
- One out into the game, Burke single for the Hounds, followed by a McElroy double
- The Lady Buffs sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and seized a 9-0 lead
- Burke led off the Greyhound third with an infield single and McElroy followed with her eighth homer of the season to pull the Hounds within 9-2
- Burke and McElroy both batted 2-for-3 for the Hounds
- Ashley Hardin paced WT with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate with 5 RBIs and a homer
- Shayne Starkey scattered six hits over five innings to earn the win for the Lady Buffs
Game 2
- WT took the lead in the nightcap on a two-out triple from Suka Van Gurp
- Van Gurk scored to give the Lady Buffs a 2-0 advantage on a double from Shayne Starkey
- In the third inning, right-fielder Glover made a running over-the-shoulder grab on a line drive from Suka Van Gurk which would have driven in a run and gone for extra bases
- Starting pitcher Zerr limited WT to two runs in three hits over the first 3.2 innings, but a two-run double from Alyx Cordell in the fourth followed by a two-run blast from Ashley Hardin gave the Lady Buffs a 6-0 lead
- Burke and Glover both drew walks in the game
- Kilee Halbert went the distance for WT and struck out four batters
