STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS — Senior outfielder
Zach Shank paced the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (16-16; LSC 2-10) over the final two games of their Lone Star Conference series at Cecil Ballow Complex. Shank batted .400 over the doubleheader, but Tarleton State (23-13; LSC 8-4) rallied to picked up a pair of 5-2 wins.
Game 1
- After Tarleton State took an early lead, the Hounds rallied in the second inning
- Chris Padilla led off with a double down the left field line and took third on a sacrifice from Garlind Webster
- Shank tied the game with a RBI single and scored the go-ahead run on a Malcolm Smith double
- The Texans tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a Blake Adams RBI single
- TSU took the lead for good one inning later on a Ruben Rodriguez homer
- Michael Holliday inherited a bases-loaded, one out situation in the fourth inning and retired two of the four batters faced
- The Texans capitalized on a Greyhound error in the inning to add a pair of insurance runs
- Connor Reece blanked Tarleton State on two hits over the final two innings
- Alex DeLaCruz singled in the third inning to extend hit consecutive game hit streak to 16 contests
- Endy Villalona walked and stole a base for the Hounds
- Evan Pontley went 5.1 innings to garner the win for Tarleton State
Game 2
- Much like the opener, the Hounds erased a 1-0 lead in the second inning
- Renaldo Guillen led off with a single to centerfield and took second on a sacrifice from Padilla
- Shank drove in the tying run and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Webster
- The Texans capitalized on a third-inning leadoff walk to Adams to tie the game
- Luke Morton was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fourth and later scored Elvin Alamo two out single to give Tarleton State the lead
- Luis Rivas also tried to score on the play, but was thrown out at the plate on a relay throw from Guillen
- Cesar Capellan fanned six batters over four innings of work for the Hounds
- Guillen and Shank each had a hit for Eastern
- Chris Reed earned the win for Tarleton with one inning of relief as the Texans utilized five pitchers in the game
