ALAMOSA, Colo. – Two second half goals and an onslaught of shot attempts led Eastern New Mexico women's soccer over Adams State by a final score of 2-1.
Eastern (1-1-1, 0-0 LSC) kept the pressure on Adams State (1-3, 0-0 RMAC) all afternoon and shattered their previous season high with 28 total shots, 12 of which were on goal.
A goal from Victoria Nunez in the 58
th minute opened up the scoring for the Hounds, and a goal from

Eastern totaled 11 shots in the first half and finally put one in the back of the net thanks to a Nunez shot from around 40 yards out that found the top right portion of the net.
Adams State scored six minutes later on a header from inside the box, but couldn't slow down a Hounds attack that finally put across the game winner in the 71
st minute. Eastern New Mexico totaled 10 shots in the final 20 minutes of the game, including a late strike from
Kierra Diaz that rattled off the cross bar in the 87
th minute and nearly extended the lead late in the contest.
Forward
Morgan Zuniga was credited with an assist on the Hernandez goal, while Hernandez herself generated multiple scoring chances throughout the game with five total shots. Diaz and
Hayden Zuniga each had three shots apiece along with
Samantha Fabela and
Kaitlyn Caro as the Hounds dominated the Grizzlies across the board.
