PORTALES, N.M. The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team dropped a back-and-forth match in straight sets (23-25, 17-25, 20-25) to Texas Woman's Friday night.

The Hounds were able to limit the Pioneers to a .161 team attacking percentage and continued to battle through out the match however were not able to find an offensive rhythm of their own. Eastern finished hitting .113 percent as a squad and ultimately committed 19 errors.

ENMU began the game strong and seemed to be in control in the first set as kills by junior Jasmine Gannon and senior Lauryn Bresnahan sparked a 4-0 run from the Hounds to give them an 18-14 advantage. The Pioneers were able to rattle off 11 of the final 16 points and took the first frame 25-23.

The second frame was tightly contested until the middle of the set as the Hounds trailed just 13-14 before TWU went on an 11-4 run, as the visitors prevailed with a 25-17 final. The third set saw nine ties and nine lead changes with the score even at 14-14 before Texas Women's mounted another late run as they took the final set by a score of 25-20.

Bresnahan was the game's most efficient attacker as she finished with match-highs in kills (9) and individual attack percentage (.381).  Senior Sarah Tuioti-Mariner also tallied nine kills and added 11 digs. Freshman setter Qitana Sapiga led the way defensively as she finishes with a game-high 16 digs to go along with a pair of service aces.

The Green and Silver will look for more favorable results as they take the floor against Midwestern State Saturday at noon inside Greyhound Arena.
