Men See First Win Of The Season On The Road

San Antonio, Texas – Eastern New Mexico came away with their first win of the season on the road at St. Mary's taking a 76-69 victory.

In their first LSC conference win and their first win of the season the Hounds dominated the glass out-rebounding St. Mary's 43 to 38. The Hounds shot 72.4 percent from the free-throw line making 21-for-29 charity shots.  Yosnier Cobas was one point away from a double-double as he hit a season high 13 rebounds and scored nine points. Devin Pullum led the team scoring over 20 points for the third time this year recording 23 for the night.  

Seconds into the start of the game a steal by Devin Pullum gave the Hounds the first points on the board. However, for majority of the first half the Hounds were unable extend their led as the Rattlers kept closing in. A quick jumper from Marvin Mapaga turned into an 8-0 run by the Hounds taking them into the half leading by seven.

As the second half started the Hounds came out in full force scoring eight points in the first three minutes compared to the Rattlers two. Middle of the second, the Hounds saw another scoring run keeping the Rattlers silent while they broke away for a ten-point lead. Adding pressure to the St. Mary's offense the Hounds were able to add an extra 12 points off turnovers and used their speed for an added 16 points off fastbreaks. The Rattlers came within three at the 39 second mark, but a fastbreak by Isaiah Murphy landed him two free-throws that gave the Hounds the leg up they needed to finish the game.

Devin Pullum led the Hounds scoring 23 points going 8-for-13 from the field. Yosnier Cobas not only led the Hounds in rebounds but marked a season and Hound career high recording 13 for the night. Cobas also kept up his recorded of blocked shots with two and added nine points.

Ibn Zaid hit multiple career highs including minutes played (30), free-throws made (four), and steals which he also led the team recording four for the night.  Deng Kuany finished the night second in scoring with 11 points.
