PORTALES, NM – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team are one step closer to the Lone Star Conference tournament after taking a 92-71 win over Cameron.
The Greyhounds were tasked with a back and forth match in the first half but were able to connect offensively for a needed conference win. The Hounds scored their third highest game of the season as the team became hot from the three point line as four Hounds hit double-digits. Junior
Jose Serrano went 7-for-7 from the free throw line finishing with a career high 20 points shooting above 70.0 percent in all fields.
Devin Pullum took the Hounds into the halftime break with a one-point lead after drawing the foul on his lone three-pointer of the half. Just as the Hounds went out with a three, they came back into the second half with a long shot from
Isaiah Murphy.
Deng Kuany put up two as the Hounds saw the last tie of the second half.
The Greyhounds stopped the Aggies for four minutes as they gained a ten-point lead. The Hounds moved out to the arc as
Jose Serrano knocked down back to back three-pointers while
Brandon Meadows grabbed his last one of the night. Taking the Greyhound lead to 21 points,
Ibn Zaid hit his third three-pointer for the night as the Hounds sailed through the remaining five minutes of play.
Isaiah Murphy finished the night with 17 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Brandon Meadows recorded twelve points while
Deng Kuany rounded out the double-digits scoring with ten points and six rebounds.
Jose Serrano added four assists to his career high 20.
The Hounds will return to the Greyhound arena on Saturday, Feb. 19 against Midwestern State. ENMU will honor Greyhound seniors before the 4:00 p.m. tip off.
