Greyhounds Fall To Lubbock Christians Impressive Offense

LUBBOCK, TX – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball saw another road loss falling, 86-65, to an impressive offense by Lubbock Christian.

The Greyhounds were out-rebounded by the Chaps 34-26, and struggled to catch up to an early led placed on the board by LCU. Senior Isaiah Murphy had an impeccable night going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and 2-for-2 from the charity strip recording 16 points for the night. Leading the Hounds on the score board was forward Jose Serrano with 19 points after connecting on 6-for-9 free throws while also grabbing seven rebounds.

The Chaps jumped out with an early led in the first and were ahead by 13 with under ten to play. Freshman Nicolas Matheus subbed in and knocked down a three closing the Chaps led. Snatching a pass off of Garrick Sherrod, Yosnier Cobas went up for the layup bring the Hounds within eight.

Coming back onto the court after the half, a missed jumper turned into an offensive rebound by Cobas and a deep three pointer from Murphy giving the Hounds the momentum they needed. Subbing back in, Serrano took two charity shots bringing the Hounds within 14 with just over 15 minutes left to play.

The Chaps responded with a scoring run while Serrano brought the Hounds back to life with a four-point play closing in on the Chaps trailing just ten points. With five minutes left on the clock the Greyhounds  struggled offensively unable to catch up to the scoring capabilities of the Chaps, eventually taking a loss for the contest.

The Hounds will return to the Greyhounds arena Thursday and Saturday welcome two Lone Star Competitors to Portales. Thursday's matchup versus DBU will be the annual Breast Cancer awareness day. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
