CANYON, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico women's soccer team traveled to nearby Lone Star Conference rival, West Texas A&M University on Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds were handed a 3-1 loss.Â
West Texas opened the scoring about five minutes into the contest with a tally from Hannah Kelley-Lusk.
In the 12th minute,
Kelsey Medina sent in a shot that bounced back off the post. She gathered the rebound and drilled a shot into the back of the net to tie the game 1-1.
Just over ten minutes later, Emily Avila put the Lady Buffs back on top with a goal from the top of the box.
WT continued to extend its advantage in the second half with a goal from Asha James in the 77th minute of play.
Both teams worked hard defensively through the rest of the contest and ultimately the Lady Buffs came away with the 3-1 win.
