DALLAS, TEXAS – Samantha Jeffries had a standout performance against #1 Dallas Baptist University in a 1-0 defeat for Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer at Patriot Field on Saturday afternoon. ENMU move to 4-9-1 in 2022, with a 2-6-1 conference standing. The Patriots shift 11-1-1 overall, holding a 7-1-1 conference record.
Jeffries was called into action shortly after kickoff, making their first stop in the 14
th minute. Shortly after, Jeffries was forced into a pair of saves to stop the Patriots. First, the Albuquerque native dropped to stop a low driven shot headed to the bottom corner, then sprung back to their feet an fought off a hard-hit effort towards goal. The Greyhounds shot stopper was called into action three more times in the for 45 minutes, tipping over three hard driven shots. The scored stood at 0-0 heading to the locker room.
DBU didn't let up the pressure with Jeffries making another save and Greyhounds defense posting two team saves over the first 15 minutes of the second half. However, the Patriots did find the breakthrough in the 64
th minute, picking out the bottom left corner on a shot from distance. DBU looked for a second goal to give the Patriots some comfort, but Jeffries denied them again. In the end, the #1 Patriots held on to a 1-0 win against the Greyhounds.
