VERNON, Texas – ENMU rodeo held strong among the region's best competition at Vernon College this weekend.
Three Greyhounds made the short go –
Shacie Marr (Goat Tying),
Caitlin Kreider (Goat Tying), and
Rowdy Norwood (Steer Wrestling).
Marr had a great weekend in three events over the three-day rodeo. She advanced to the short round after tying a goat in 6.9 seconds and posted a 7.5 time in her last go. The junior from Tularosa, N.M. also missed the short round in barrel racing by three-hundredths (.300) of a second and almost made the mark in breakaway roping by four-hundredths (.400). She helped the Hounds earn 9th after securing 30 points.
Caitlin Kreider continued her early season success by advancing to the short round in goat tying after a 7.1 second run. She followed that with a 7.5 second time.
Rowdy Norwood made the short round in steer wrestling with a 4.9 second run and ended the competition with a 7.6-mark Saturday night. He earned ENMU 12th place with his 50 points.
In the breakaway, Eastern had three competitors finish one second or less from making the Saturday night final.
This weekend the team is headed to Lubbock, Texas for the final rodeo of the fall. The competition will run from October 27-29.
