PORTALES, N.M. – ENMU men's soccer pulled out a highly entertaining 3-2 victory over Texas A&M International Wednesday night at Greyhound Stadium.
"Today proved what we have been capable of all year," said head coach
Brandon Misuraca. "We put everything together and found a way to win."
The Hounds took advantage of their chances and outshot the Dustdevils, 17-12, including a 10-4 advantage in the first half.
Alexandre Meres connected on a penalty kick chance to score the first goal of the game in the 49th minute after a handful in the early moments of the half.
TAMIU did not let the score slow them down as they found the back of the net in the 54th minute, however the Hounds raced back for another opportunity of their own.
Jonathan De Motta created empty space by passing a pair of defenders and sending a bullet between the pipes.
"We wanted to leave everything out on the field," said the Hilo, Hawaii native. "Moving on we look how to better the team as a whole and finish the season strong."
Three minutes later, a beautiful arching ball from
David Alonso found the head of Sander Tonnesson for the game winning goal.
TAMIU kept the match interesting with a score in the 69th minute, but the Greyhounds prevailed in the final moments of the match.
The Greyhounds finish the 2022 season Saturday night at Oklahoma Christian for the final LSC matchup of the year.
