Women's Soccer Battles To A 0-0 Draw With Texas A&M International

Both teams had chances to win the game, but each defense held firm in the scoreless draw.

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer played out a back and forth 0-0 draw with Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Stadium. The Greyhound shift to 4-7-1 on the season (2-4-1 in LSC play), while TAMIU move to 4-5-5 overall (0-3-5 in conference action).

The Dustdevils had the game's first chance in the 22nd minute. A combination play sent Krysan St. Louis on goal, with Samantha Jeffries racing off their goal line to smother the goal bound shot. A few minutes later ENMU had a great chance to go in front. A flicked ball from Kelsey Medina played Abby Ditzler down the left wing, Ditzler than crossed to on onrushing Karlee Scott, but couldn't direct their effort on goal. Hannah Grady forced a late save from the TAMIU keeper, with both teams at 0-0 at the half.

In a frantic start to the second half, St. Louis weaved into a shooting position to aim at the Eastern net. Jeffries supplied a stop and quickly sent the ball forward to Ditzler, who was taken down just outside the penalty area. The resulting free kick from Grady was blocked by the Dustdevils. With 15 minutes to play, both teams had great chances to find the opening goal. First TAMIU had one great shot beaten away by Jeffries, and Ditzler saw their shot on goal knocked away out of play. As the final whistle blew, both teams settled for a point in a 0-0 draw.
