Women's Soccer Fall in Home Opener, 1-0, To MSU-Denver

Goal in 68th minute for Roadrunners proved to be the difference

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer suffered a 1-0 defeat to Metropolitan State University – Denver on Sunday afternoon at Greyhound Stadium. The Greyhounds slip to 2-3, while the Roadrunners move to 4-1-1.

Both teams recorded a shot on goal in the opening 20 minutes. Caroline Jensen's effort test the Roadrunners goalie in the early goings, while Samantha Jeffries handled the early shots from MSU-Denver. The Roadrunners tested the ENMU goal three more times in the half, with both teams heading to the locker room 0-0.
 
MSU-Denver opened the second 45 minute with three shots on goal, but Jeffries was able to repel all three. However, the Roadrunners did find the opening goal in the 68th minute after a shot from Luna Garcia found the bottom corner. The Greyhounds put pressure on MSU-Denver as the match reached its end but couldn't find an equalizing goal.
