WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Woman's Basketball were not able to overcome Midwestern State, 83-77, on Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. ENMU slip to 7-6 overall on the season, along with a 4-4 LSC record, and 2-2 in West Division play. The Mustangs take its record to 4-11, 2-7 in conference play, and 1-4 in West Division action.
Deja Adrian started the contest with a layup, but that cued a 13-0 run from the home team to go ahead 13-2. MSU hit three triples and two layups during the surge. However, Eastern replied with a 10-3 streak to end the period 16-12 MSU.
Ashley Shipley began the streak with a three,
Bella Stone contributed a layup and three free throws, and Adrian hit a pair of free throws.

The second quarter began with a back and forth, with
Corin Camara hitting a three and
Julieta Ceja converting a layup to start the period. Midwestern had a answer for every Greyhound basket, holding a 30-25 lead midway through the quarter. The rest of the period saw both teams trade free throws, with the Mustangs clinging to a 37-33 lead at the half.

After the halftime break, the Mustangs opened the period with a 15-2 lead to extend its lead to 52-35 over Eastern. ENMU fought back into the quarter with Stone and Adrian being the main scorers for the Greyhounds. Heading to the final period, ENMU trailed 63-50 against the Mustangs.

Eastern's offense caught fire to start the period, going on a 16-5 stretch (including a 12-0 streak) to come within one possession of the Mustangs, 68-66 MSU. Adrian was responsible for six points during the run,
KiKi Roberts supplied four points from the bench, and
Lazurea Saunders supplied an "and-1" layup to cap the streak. However, the Mustangs responded with a 9-2 run to go up 77-68 over ENMU. Eastern had a late surge at the end, but Midwestern State held out for an 83-77 win over ENMU.
NOTABLE STATS
- Eastern finished the contest with a 32.9% shooting percentage (23-70), 7-21 from behind the arc (33.3%), and 24-34 at the foul line (70.6%). The home Mustangs posted a 44.8% shooting percentage (26-58), hit 37.5% of attempts from deep (9-24), and 81.5% at the charity stripe (22-27).
- Adrian led all scorers with 28 points and finished with a team best 11 rebounds. Stone contributed 15 points in the game with nine rebounds.
- Shipley finished the contest with eight points and seven rebounds, along with a team high four assists. Corin Camara supplied nine points from the bench.
- Stone, Shipley, Saunders, and Alexandria Sariñana all found two steals in the game.

"Our group fought incredibly hard, especially in the fourth quarter when our defense really stepped up and made huge plays to get us good looks offensively," said Head Woman's Basketball Coach Meghan De los Reyes. "We did an amazing job offensive rebounding all game providing ourselves with second chances but we needed to protect the paint better on the other end,".
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Adrian posted a career best 28 points during the game, finishing 7-19 from the field, 2-3 from deep and 12-15 from the foul line (season high for free throws). In rebounding, Adrian pulled down a season best 11 boards, finishing with their fourth double-double of the season.
- Adrian's 12 made free throws is tied for 9th in a single game in ENMU history. Additionally, 15 free attempts from Adrian is 7th most in a single game in program history.
- Stone secured a career high nine rebounds during the contest, and Shipley picked up a season best four assists.
- The Greyhounds pulled down 23 offensive rebounds during the game, the most this season.
- 77 points was second the highest point total this season, just behind the 83 points scored against Northern N.M. (12/12/22)
