PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Woman's Soccer faced a tough matchup with Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday evening at Greyhound Stadium, falling 3-1 to the Eagles. The Greyhounds fell to 1-9-4 overall, while posting a 0-7-1 conference standing. OC improved to 6-2-5 on the season, with a 2-2-4 conference record.
The first chance of the match fell to Eastern New Mexico, with
Sarah Tate striking a free kick on goal. Shortly after, Oklahoma Christian scored with their first shot on goal in the match, taking the lead in the 12
th minute. ENMU tried to get back into the contest but didn't generate any clear chances as the match continued. The Eagles took a two-goal lead going into the locker room, scoring in the 36
th minute.
After the intermission, Oklahoma Christian added a third goal from a corner kick with a following header pushing the score to 3-0. After a couple attempts from
Sierra Villanueva midway through the second half, the junior got a goal back with a long-range strike into the top-right corner. ENMU pushed at the end for a potential comeback, but the match finished 3-1 OC.
NOTABLE STATS
- Villanueva led the team in shots with four, two shots on goal, while picking up the goal for ENMU. Tate finished behind with three shots. Samantha Jeffries posted a trio of saves in net, allowing three goals.
- Zoe Ross opened the scoring for Oklahoma Christian, while Kyla Lovelace scored the game-winner. Hadley Horn rounded out the scoring for the Eagles, while Ruta Andrews and Rani Mueller each had an assist. Ross finished as the team leader in shots with three, while Horn posted a team best two shots on goal. Breanna Wooten made four saves in net of OC.
- The Greyhounds out paced the Eagles for shots (12-10), but the OC led the match with six shots on goal versus the five from ENMU.

- Villanueva tallied their first score of the season, becoming the seventh different goal scorer this season for ENMU.
- Four Greyhounds played the full 90 minutes: Raegan Dash, Jeffries, Tate, and Villanueva.
- Eastern New Mexico head on the road this weekend, traveling to Laredo, Texas to face Texas A&M International on Saturday, Oct. 21. The late-night kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (MST).
