Dustdevils Slip Past Women's Soccer, 2-0

The Greyhounds had five different student-athletes register a shot on goal

LAREDO, Texas – A goal in each half for Texas A&M International drew a 2-0 setback for Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer on Saturday evening at Dustdevil Field. With the loss, ENMU now have a 1-10-4 record this season, while sitting 0-8-1 in conference play. The home Dustdevils shift to 6-3-5 overall with a 4-2-3 standing in the LSC.
 
In the opening 20 minutes of the match, both teams fired a shot on goal with Brianna Eye getting a sight of goal for ENMU. Midway through the period, the Dustdevils broke through the ENMU defense to open the scoring in the 24th minute. Both teams continued to pressure as the half closed. Mariana Zevallos, Brooklyn Guajardo, and Abby Ditzler each posted a shot on goal before the half ended.
 
Texas A&M International limited the Greyhounds chances in the second period, with Eastern finding just one shot in the second as Kylie Drewett recorded a shot on goal. Texas A&M International picked up a second goal midway through the period, using quick transition play to catch ENMU off guard. The match ended in favor of TAMIU, 2-0

NOTABLE STATS

  • Eastern finished the match with five shots on goal coming from five different individuals. Samantha Jeffries produced six saves in goal for Eastern New Mexico.
  • Sammy Hecht and Louise Atkinson both scored during the match, with Sierra Clarke and Blanca Osorio adding an assist. Hecht paced the team with six shots, while Krysan St. Louis finished with three shots. Fabiana Solano kept a shutout in the match, making five saves.
