Women's Soccer Falls To #22 DBU on Senior Day, 2-0

The Greyhounds recognized nine seniors of the program before the game.

PORTALES, Texas – On a cool foggy afternoon in Portales, Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer fell 2-0 against #22 DBU on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Stadium on Senior Day. ENMU now stand at 1-12-4 overall, with a 0-10-1 LSC standing. Meanwhile, the Patriots remain unbeaten on the season, 10-0-4, with a 7-0-3 conference record.
 
The visiting Patriots provided pressure from the start, striking the woodwork twice with five shots in the first 15 minutes. ENMU recorded their first shot at a goal in the 20th minute, with Haley Huff testing the opposition goalkeeper. Shortly after, DBU opened the scoring with a well taken finish after connecting several passes in the 28th minute. DBU added another just before the halftime whistle, heading in a corner to make it 2-0. DBU wanted get a third in the second half, but Samantha Jeffries made five saves to prevent any further damage. The match finished 2-0 for DBU.

NOTABLE STATS

  • The Greyhounds had five different individuals record a shot during the match, with the effort from Huff going on goal. Jeffries made eight saves in the match against the Patriots.
  • DBU scored goals courtesy of Sophia Schrock and McKenna Vela. Taylor Tufts assisted the opener to Schrock, while Elise Borders delivered the cross on the Vela score. In net, Carmen Lopez made one save during play.
  • DBU outshot ENMU 27-5 on the afternoon, with shots on goal favoring the Patriots, 10-1. Dallas Baptist had more corner kicks in the match, 8-1, while ENMU edged DBU on fouls committed, 9-8.
