Greyhounds Fall in Straight Sets To Texas Woman's, 3-0

ENMU fell by set socres of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-15.

DENTON, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Volleyball were downed in straight sets against Texas Woman's on Wednesday evening at Kitty Magee Arena. ENMU slip 8-10 with an 0-5 LSC standing. The Pioneers move to 12-4 overall, holding a 4-1 conference record.
 
Texas Woman's asserted themselves in the first set, opening the frame on a 10-0 run. The Pioneers went on to win the set 25-17 to take a 1-0 advantage. To begin the second set both teams were tied at 7-7, but a 7-1 run opened a gap for TWU to lead. A back and forth transpired for the remainder of the second set, with TWU winning the frame 25-19. During the final frame, both teams were knotted midway through the set, but a 11-1 run was enough a cushion to complete the sweep, 25-15.

NOTABLE STATS

  • The Greyhounds offense was led by Mikaela Garvin with 10 kills, posting a .474 hitting percentage, while Gracelyn Stubbs supplied 11 assists.
  • Both Getsemani Carrasco (13 digs) and Darcy Dodd (10 digs) hit double figures for digs, while Garvin and Deziree Flowers each picked up four block assists.
  • The decisive statistic was the 16 service aces from the Pioneers. The Greyhounds had the edge with seven blocks over the Pioneers, and 44 digs compared to the 42 from TWU.
