PORTALES, N.M. – In a tightly contested match, Eastern New Mexico Volleyball fell 3-1 on Friday evening against St. Edward's at Greyhound Arena. ENMU slip to 6-5 on the season, while SEU improve to 4-7 overall.

The Hilltoppers came out on top by sets of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-21, while ENMU snagged the second set 25-22. SEU gained an edge in the opening set with an 11-1 run, but the Greyhounds roared back with eight straight points to trial by one. St. Edward's took the final six of seven points to seal the first set. ENMU responded smartly in the second set, building a lead as high as seven.

For the third set, the Greyhounds couldn't stop a 6-1 run at the end of the set, giving SEU a 2-1 set advantage. In the final set, Eastern fell behind by as many as ten (19-9) and its comeback efforts were too late, with SEU claiming the set 25-21.
NOTABLE STATS
- Mikaela Garvin paced the Hounds offense with 13 kills and 17.5 points. Gracelyn Stubbs contributed 10 kills in addition to 13 assists.
- Kayla Ison led ENMU for assists with 20.
- Defensively, Getsemani Carrasco led the Greyhounds with 20 digs, while Halle Sanders and Darcy Dodd each provided 11 digs.
- At the net, Garvin finished with six total blocks (one solo and five assists), while Deziree Flowers and Stubbs had five total blocks.
- St. Edward's were effective at the service line, holding 11 service aces compared to the Hounds six. SEU led the match in kills (52-40), while holding a superior hitting percentage (.129 -.108).
- ENMU held an edge for both digs (67-56) and blocks during the contest (11-7).

"St. Edward's served very well tonight, and we struggled with serve receive," said Head Coach Sia Poyer. "We dug ourselves into a hole and we played catch-up for the most part. We have a chance tomorrow to finish the weekend with winning a record," said Poyer.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Stubbs tallied their 7th double-double of the season.
- Two other matches were hosted at Greyhound Arena on Friday. St. Edward's beat Cameron, 3-0, and Western New Mexico bested Midwestern State, 3-1.
- The Greyhounds conclude this weekend's action against Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. ENMU's match will be the final match of the 2023 LSC Preview hosted by ENMU.
