PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico rodeo is set to compete in its third rodeo of the season at Vernon College. Before the Greyhounds head to the arena, please take a look at the Three Barrel Preview:
1.) Barrel One – In A Motion: This week's rodeo will feature an earlier slack Thursday night. Competitors will take centerstage Thursday evening at 5 p.m.
Ali Terry,
Shaeden Marr,
Kathi Norell,
Tabby Tomlinson,
McKinzee Corliss,
Shacie Marr,
Tarren Washburn,
Gabby Ray,
Trent Wood,
Zachary Townsend,
Bowdy Neece,
Blase Steffen, and
Beau Dean are those expected to compete Thursday.
2.) Barrel Two – Fine Dining: This week, two student-athletes gave a preview of the Vernon rodeo. Fans who
watch will find out where one Greyhound will be eating this weekend. After seeing two student-athletes compete in the short round last week, Eastern is looking to earn more slots in the championship round. Perhaps a good meal at a fine dining establishment will do just the trick.
3.) Barrel Three – Tough Competition: Each week is tough in the southwest region, but the most remarkable event came in the barrels. Several Hounds broke the 17-second mark, but only
Shacie Marr came away with a spot in the short go for her efforts. This week, student-athletes will see a lengthier arena. Times may adjust, but the difficulty to make it to Saturday night will not.
