DENTON, Texas – After holding the home team down for 45 minutes, Texas Woman's (6-2-3, 2-1-3) scored two second half goals to beat Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer (2-8-1, 1-6-0), 2-0, at Pioneer Soccer Field on Wednesday evening.
Both teams were equal in the opening 45 minutes, as each team had three shots.
Louise Godden and
Faith Zint both registered a shot on goal in the period, while
Rosie Willmott Joyce made one save in the opening frame.
The Pioneers turned up the pressure in the second half, recording seven consecutive shots as Willmott Joyce made four saves. However, the Greyhounds resistance broke in the 69
th minute as a cross from the right-wing was stirred home by Giselle Gutierrez. Eastern regrouped with a shot after the restart, but Texas Woman's sealed the game with a goal seven minutes from the final whistle.
