Late Pair Of Goals Sinks Men's Soccer Against West Texas A&M, 4-2

Three of the matches six goals were scored in the final five minutes of the game

CANYON, Texas – A frantic final three minutes sank Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer (4-5-6, 2-3-3 LSC) against West Texas A&M (5-6-4, 3-2-3 LSC) by a final score of 4-2 on Wednesday evening at The Pitch at Buffalo Sports Park.

The Greyhounds wasted no time to get on the scoreboard, scoring on their first shot. Robin Vandewalle tucked away the chance after being played in following good combination play from Arthur Macri and Alexandre Meres. Eastern withstood the Buffs for the remainder of the first half, as Milo Paci made four saves to keep ENMU ahead 1-0 at the break.

Shortly after the restart, the Buffs tied the game with a quick goal inside the first five minutes, then jumped in front of the Greyhounds with a headed goal in the 63rd minute. Eastern sprung a few chances as the match entered the final five minutes, but still trailed. ENMU did find an equalizer with just three and a half minutes remaining, as Giani Mascarel pounced on a loose ball in the 18-yard area to tie the score at 2-2.

However, the tie game lasted just 50 seconds as West Texas A&M slotted home a third goal to take the lead for the second time in the match. Eastern pushed for another reply in the final minutes, but WT hit the Greyhounds on a counter-attacking move to seal the game with a fourth goal, 4-2.
