PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Volleyball (3-11, 0-3 LSC) faced a tough challenge, going up against Lubbock Chrisitan (6-7, 2-1 LSC) as the visiting Chaps finished 3-0 winners on Thursday evening at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
LCU 3, ENMU 0 (18-25, 13-25, 23-25)
Sophia Valdez contributed a third of the Greyhounds kills during the match, finishing with 11 along with a .455 hitting percentage.
Halle Sanders was next in line for kills with nine, while
Randi Crandall chipped in the six.
As for the setters,
Cayla Reyes posted a team best 19 assists, while
Angelina Sanchez posted 10 assists for the Greyhounds offense.
Imahni Brown paced the Greyhounds for digs with 10, while
Darcy Dodd supplied nine and Sanchez grabbed eight digs.
Eastern finished the match with a leading seven blocks, as Crandall finished with four total blocks (two solos, two assists) to lead ENMU.
Brianna Hernandez was just behind with three total blocks, supplying a solo effort with two assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Valdez registered a season best for hitting percentage, with .455 being the highest they have had all season. Valdez limited the errors to just one, while tying a season best for kills in a three-set match (11).
- Crandall supplied a joint best on the season for service aces (2) and a new personal high for points with 11.0.
- The Greyhounds have a quick turnaround as they play #14 Angelo State on Saturday, Oct. 5 as part of homecoming weekend. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.Â
