PORTALES, N.M. – In the Greyhounds conference opener, Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer (2-3-3, 0-1 LSC) were held scoreless against St. Mary's (6-2-2, 2-0 LSC) during a 1-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
Clear chances were seldom for both teams through out the game, with both teams combing for 20 shots in the match with just four on goal. St. Mary's controlled the possession in the first 45 minutes, taking 12 shots to the Greyhounds zero, with just two shots going on goal.
The game became tighter in the second half, as StMU and ENMU each had four shots in the second half. Both teams had a one shot on goal in the second half, as the Rattlers scored in 60
th minute to take the lead.
Ludwig Scherer did have an attempt at goal for ENMU, but it was saved as the Rattlers finished 1-0 winners.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Milo Paci made a pair of saves in net for the Greyhounds, while Nick Huenig had two shots in the game.
- Five Greyhounds played the entire 90 minutes as Colin Hyzy, Kris McDonald, Pablo Nodar, Paci, and Scherer all played the full match.
- ENMU hits the road for its next conference match, as the Greyhounds travel to Austin, Texas to face St. Edward's on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The afternoon kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. (MST) / 3 p.m. (CST) at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
